Last month was the hottest September in recorded history, according to U.S. government scientists, in a year that they say has been “remarkably hot,” with unprecedented wildfire and hurricane activity in the United States. The average global temperature in September was 1.75 degrees Fahrenheit above the 20th century average, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
