State Scientist Day

30th Annual State Scientist Day

The 30th Annual CAPS State Scientist Day is scheduled for May 10, 2018!

Thousands of students are expected at the 2018 CAPS State Science Day at The State Capitol, where kids will learn about the environment, preparing for natural disasters and much more.

For the past thirty years, State Scientists have come together to show third- through sixth-grade students the work that real-life scientists do in a hands-on, exciting, fun way! The event takes place on the West Steps of the State Capitol on State Scientist Day, an officially recognized day set each year by a Legislative Resolution.

In 2017, nine TV and radio stations covered the event, which drew more than 2,500 kids from around the Sacramento region to learn about everything from earthquakes to earthworms.
