Map shows drought conditions in California before and after storms

San Francisco Chronicle (tiered subscription)

The new version of the federal U.S. Drought Monitor map released Thursday shows some improvement in drought conditions across California after two atmospheric river events delivered much-needed soakings of rain. Extreme drought conditions went from 87.18% to 80.28%. Despite the improvements, the new map showed there is no part of California not in some level of drought and reservoirs statewide remain well below capacities.
