After two falconers tipped off state game wardens to his social media post, Karl Kerster faced potential jail time in an extremely unusual criminal case with First Amendment implications. The wardens said he had posted a “stolen” state falconer test and committed a potential felony by knowingly possessing it. The case has been dropped. Kerster says it was retaliation for being a pest to state regulators over the years.
