New hope for salmon: 500,000 released into Klamath River
California wildlife officials last week released more than 500,000 young salmon in the Klamath River in an effort to help restore dwindling numbers of the iconic fish. The event was celebrated by California Department of Fish and Wildlife officials, as well as leaders from several tribes, including the Yurok Tribe, Karuk Tribe, Shasta Indian Nation and the Quartz Valley Indian Rancheria.
