Boeing to begin ’emergency’ removal of radioactive soil in Simi hills
To prevent “clear and imminent threats” starting Feb. 5, “an emergency project” to remove and dispose of 15,408 cubic yards of contaminated soil — including soil containing “radionuclides” — will begin at Santa Susana Field Lab in the hills above Simi Valley. The Department of Toxic Substances Control said “the site’s unique and special circumstances require a timely response action to prevent clear and imminent threats.”
