California flu case numbers are rising. Here’s what to do if you’re sick
According to the National Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, California emergency room visits for influenza recently surpassed those related to COVID. COVID accounted for about 1.5% of all emergency room visits, while influenza-related visits climbed from 1.3% to 1.8% from Dec. 2 and Dec. 9, the most recent dates for which data is available in California. According to the California Department of Public Health, test positivity for the two respiratory illnesses is up, with 9.5% of COVID lab tests and 12.5% of flu tests coming back positive.
